Aren't you on the most popular professional social network online? :) You know what I mean. It's LinkedIn. LinkedIn deserve the medal. Recently we have been noticing different kind of changes on LinkedIn such as mentions. Did you know about new features on LinkedIn? Check out all the new LinkedIn features if you are not aware of them. Anyway it's not about a new feature I'm gonna talk about today. Can you guess? Well, you already know ;)
Keep in Touch
LinkedIn advice their members to connect with professionals they know and would like to know to be keep in touch on LinkedIn. Further, it requests LinkedIn members to accept connection requests from the professionals they know. I'm believe you are aware of it, but do you know why LinkedIn want you to connect with professionals you know or can trust? When you connect with someone, it becomes a first degree connection and the primary email address on your profile will be accessible by that connections. Did you experience your inbox being filled with more promotional emails than ever?
Though Linked state their reasons for why you shouldn't connect with people you don't know, most of the time people go ahead and connect with a lot of people by end of the day or week to have more professionals around. Do you remember that folks on Facebook were keep adding friends back in first days? Yeah, it's not a fault of Facebook or LinkedIn but the users.

Checklist Works?!
To be on safe side, when I get new connection requests on LinkedIn from a person I don't know, I go through their profiles and add if they seem to match with my interests. Though I feel I'm safe enough after the checklist, once I accepted the requests, right after few minutes or on the very next day, I've got a message saying join their group, visit their blog / website or try out their latest products and services. How professional it is?! I really don't like such promotional techniques on social networks and wanted to remove them from my connections right away.
Where's the REMOVE button?
Removing someone from your connections is not an easy task on LinkedIn. The process of removal is easier but finding the remove button took me time. That's not convenient! Anyway we have to follow the rules. If you are on LinkedIn and wanna remove connections, the delete button is not right next to the name or on their LinkedIn profile. You can view all your connections at My Connections, but still you can't remove any of them from there either. Wanna know how to get rid of annoying or not-worth-being-connected LinkedIn members? Just scroll down :)
Steps:
1. Sign in to your LinkedIn profile.
2. Navigate to Remove Connections page.
3. Now select the people you wanna remove from your connections on the left.
4. Click Remove Connections button to remove selected people from your connections.
5. Now you will get a prompt to confirm the removal. Click the button labeled Yes, remove them.
More Information:
* Once you remove a connection, only you can reconnect with the contact again by sending an invitation.
Enjoy :-)

Fabulous info Mayura! I'm not on LinkedIn much but this is always good to know! Thanks!
OK, now where's my comment? I just left a comment and it's gone when I was asked to register to this Disqus thing.

I hope it helps you to remove connections easily dear :) It was confusing for me first time as I couldn't find remove button easily there. Anyway now I'm stick with professionals I know well :)

Hi Sue,
Owh YEAH! You got it right there. Thanks for adding it here as I know it will help folks stop by here :)
Sometimes LinkedIn do changes to their interface and back then it wasn't under contacts though. Profile organizer? Had no idea :)
Thanks you for coming over and adding more value to this post by adding alternatives to access Remove Connections page Sue :) You are awesome!
Cheers...
Hi Donna,
Hooray! ;)
Now I get it ;) Yeah, sometimes you may come across annoying folks there like I did and now you showing us another example to get rid of professionals you don't wanna stick around.
I'm glad to hear you can use a help here and hope you can get rid of 'em easily Donna :) Simple enough but I guess ones who are confused with the removal process find it helpful. You can try alternatives mentioned by Sue too :)
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts about LinkedIn and unwanted connections Donna :)

Hi Mayura,
Another fantastic post my friend.
I do use LinkedIn but not as often as I should. To be honest mate I get fed up with all the spam people send me, which may not really be spam but I never asked for the links to products, groups etc, especially from people I hardly know.
Last week I must have had a dozen requests for references from people I DO NOT KNOW, but who have sent a connection request first.
As you suggested in the post, I do check each person before connecting and see how they're connected to others, whether they're connected to existing friends etc.
I think it's good that they can't send another invitation to reconnect... Guess what's going to happen next time I get a request for a reference from someone I don't really know ;)
Excellent post mate, I'll certainly be following this one ;)
Thanks Mayura,
Barry
Hi Mayura,
Great tutorial as always Mayura!
I am just starting to build up my connections on LinkedIn and I am just learning to use it. I don't think I have connections that I need to remove at this time but it is always good to learn new things and be prepared for whatever may happen. I am so glad you are now starting doing tutorials on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a great platform to use for your business and I would love to see more tutorials from you on it in the future.
Thanks Mayura for all the help and the value you offer on your blog. You are simply amazing.
Be Blessed,
Neamat
I didn't know you could remove connections but I guess I always assumed you could. I haven't had to remove anyone yet but I'm glad you showed me how. I love it when I don't have to go hunting for things like this now Mayura. You're always my savior when it comes to simplifying the process. Yay!!!

Hi Tim,
Looking through a profile is always a good practice mate :) I can see how careful our friends are.
Same here. I've seen more requests plus promotional messages from folks who are out of my friend circles online. Even they are not relevant too. LinkedIn wasn't noisy like that before though :)
I know, at the outset, we might go with connection suggestions the site comes up or just start connecting with professional we find. I believe it's worth a clean up Tim :)
Thanks for coming over and sharing your thoughts about managing your LinkedIn connections Tim :)

Hi Barry,
LinkedIn is not a top priority of mine but worth it Barry :) I know of people who really make use of it for their businesses by engaging more like we do on Facebook, Google+ etc.
Ha ha... I was fed up of requests when the time I write this post too mate ;) Ugh... I wonder how professional they are. Then finding remove button was another challenge. But Sue pointed out alternatives too :)
I can see how careful you are Barry :) I remember you were so glad when you were able to clean up your Twitter account too. Now I believe this helps on LinkedIn :)
Indeed! That's a relief Barry. Ha ha... Show 'em ;) Another thing is, once connected, they take our email address mentioned in profile and sell or give for companies Barry. More spammy emails can be expected then.
Thanks for coming over and sharing your thoughts about connecting with professionals and behaviors at LinkedIn Barry :)
Cheers...
Hi Neamat,
I was active on LinkedIn back then but now I hardly go there dear :) I know, it has large potential for businesses to find opportunities and one should never ignore if he/she runs a business.
It's glad to hear you have right connections at there Neamat :) You know, sometimes folks just go and try to connect with everyone to grow their network.
Ah.. I've did few earlier too Neamat :) Of course, I'll come up with more as I get to know more about it.
Thank you for coming by and contributing your thoughts about LinkedIn connections Neamat :)
Cheers...
Hi Adrienne,
Now I believe you are hanging out with right people there as you never wanted to remove anyone dear :) So glad to hear that.
Ha ha... Yeah, there must be a way, nah? :) Now you know how. After the clean up, now it's so quiet and peaceful with interesting conversations going on Adrienne. Now I believe I can join you too ;)
Thanks for coming over and sharing your thoughts about LinkedIn connections Adrienne :)

Hi Mayura, What helpful information! I have no idea why LinkedIn would make it so hard to disconnect, but I'm so glad you showed us how to do it. I don't need this now as I tend not to approve connections when I have no idea who the person is. I am always surprised to received those invitations to connect when I haven't had any connection to the person previously.
Thanks so much for sharing this, Mayura!
I have several people I've been needing to un-connect with but have not known how. Thank you for writing so many amazing how-to post!
Hi Carolyn,
Me neither dear :) I was thinking it was way easy to remove folks there and disappointed after all.
However as Sue mentioned, there are other ways to access Remove Connections page but I'd be glad if we can remove connections without going to Remove Connections page like we do on other social networks. Don't you? :)
Glad to hear you have no unwanted connections there :) That's a relief!
Hope LinkedIn will make it easy as it's adding more features to their platform lately :)
Thanks for coming over and sharing your thoughts about removing connections Carolyn :)

Hi Dan,
I hope now you can do it easily mate :) I was confused when I wanted to remove some there and thought about sharing the way I did here.
Thanks for coming by and sharing your thoughts mate :)

WOW...this is terrific post, Mayura!
I've always wondered about this. I dunno how to delete my connections here. But now I know. This is wonderful. thank you very much.
Angela
Mayura, wondering....when are you going to MIGRATE Wordpress? Leaving a comment here is always a struggle for me :( but I love your post and would love to keep in touch...so yeah...
Hi Angela,
Glad to hear you have been searching for it too :) Ha ha... I was stumped finding where to delete 'em who are shouldn't be in my connections too.
Thanks for coming by and contributing your thoughts on this post Angela :)
Cheers...
Woopies... What was it with commenting Angela? :)
Recently Disqus has some issues as they were upgrading their system, but didn't get any reports then though. Let me know o any issues, I'll look into 'em.
Ha ha... I'll stay with Blogger Angela :) It's my choice after trying most blogging platforms though. You know, tastes can be different ;)
Cheers...
Finally I found this page. I knew they had something like this but it was so hard to find. Mayura, this is fantastic, thank you so much for sharing this.
Hi Sonia,
Gosh... I've gone through it too dear :)
I thought removing connections is way too easy, No one expects a tutorial on it, right? :) However it was hard to find and then I thought a tutorial would be better after all.
Now you know how to and I'm glad to hear it helped you when you need it dear :)
Thanks for coming over and sharing your thoughts on removing connections at LinkedIn Sonia :)
Cheers...
Yay! I found that button, very inconspicuous placement. Thank you!!!
Hey Sharon,
Ha ha... Yeah, it's very inconspicuous placement :) I was mad when I couldn't find it. Glad this post could help you find it after all.
Thanks for coming by and sharing your thoughts :)
