Hello, INSTAGRAMmers. Let me start with a simple question ~ "Do you use Instagram very frequently?". I don't know exactly why you use Instagram, but I know you are a Massive Photo Lover. You might have 100s or 1000s of photos stored in there that you would love to display on your blog or website. Usually when you take photos with Instagram, they will save in your device too. You might save them somewhere else or just keep them in your Instagram account while deleting photos from your mobile storage. What if you wanna download photos in your Instagram account?
Why Download Instagram Photos?
There could be different kind of reasons why you need to download photos stored on Instagram. Most commonly, it might be that you need to reuse your Instagram images or photos. Also it could be that you need to have a backup of your photos, just to keep them in a safe place or as you gonna delete your Instagram account very soon.
Whatever reason it is, did you know that you can export all your photos and images saved in your Instagram account? Let's take a look, what is it all about.
Whatever reason it is, did you know that you can export all your photos and images saved in your Instagram account? Let's take a look, what is it all about.
Instaport
You just read it. Instaport is an online service helping you to export images stored in your Instagram account easily. It's very simple and easy to use, and I don't think you need few paragraphs about this service. Anyway, it's not only about your photos stored in your Instagram account, but you can go beyond that too.
Here's different options you can find at Instaport when it comes to downloading.
Here's different options you can find at Instaport when it comes to downloading.
● All your Instagram photos
● Most recent photos
● Photos took within a date range
● Photos of others, that you have liked on Instagram
● Photos tagged with a specific tag
Limitations and Usage
There is a limitation when it comes to downloading. No, you can download all your photos and images as depicted above, but yet the maximum resolution supports by Instaport is 612 x 612 pixels. Eventhough you have photos in Instagram with a higher resolution, they won't export as it is or in the original resolution. Anyway it depends on why you need to download Instagram images.
As you can see, you are already capable of downloading Instagram images of someone else through this service, such as photos you liked or tagged with a specific tag. The images on Instagram are public and accessible by anyone, so I believe Instagram users are much careful when they share images or photos on Instagram. However, unless you download your photos, you need to responsible of how you gonna use them as the photos are owned by respective users.
Shall we start downloading your Instagram images and photos?
Steps:
1. Go to Instaport website.
2. Now click on Sign in with Instagram.
3. You will prompt to log in to your Instagram account. Enter your credentials and log in.
4. Click Authorize button for Instaport to access your Instagram account in order to download your photos.
5. Now select Download .zip file option under export service.
6. Further, you can set Advanced Options to export set of specific photos. It could be most recent photos, within a date range, photos you have liked or photos tagged with a specific tag.
7. Click Start Export button to start exporting photos according to your preferences.
Note: The time to export will depend on number of photos to be exported.
8. Once the export has been completed, you will get the prompt to download. You can either just download or donate while the download in progress.
More Information:
* You can log out from Instaport just by clicking on X icon next to your username and even start logging in with another account to download photos.
* If you have more questions on Instaport, you can refer to their Support section.
Enjoy :-)

Mayura, I love Instagram and use it almost daily. You know I like taking photos :) I did NOT know we could download those photos. Thanks so much for sharing this one. Now, why don't you use it Mayura?
Informative post yet again Mayura!
I've never used Instagram, though I love photographs :) I guess I love seeing them more than clicking them myself. But there was a time long back when I was good at taking pictures too. Reading through your post reminded me to restart on my hobby once again.
Instaport sounds interesting as well, and would be nice if you can export or download those images and keep them. I guess I should bookmark this post for the time whenever I start using Instagram. :)
Thanks for sharing. :)
Hi Lisa,
Owh yes, I see you are posting on Facebook via Instagram dear :) You are a heavy mobile user I know. I had no idea that we can download photos on Instagram, until I got to know about this service too dear. That's very helpful to keep a backup of all your photos, no? :) Hope you will enjoy downloading.
Well, I rarely use my mobile and you know I always with PC but don't go elsewhere much :)
Next BIG reason is our mobile data connections Lisa. Here it's still under development for my area and on my network, it's rare I can get HSDPA dear. Mostly it's E-GPRS and due to connection issues, Instagram uploads failed. I did try yesterday too, but no luck :)
Thanks for stopping by and appreciate sharing your comment Lisa :)
Cheers...
Hi Harleena,
I've been using it on my smartphone to add effects on photos dear :) But not uploaded any to my account though. Ha ha... I agree :) I'd love to view awesome photos too.
Really? I didn't know you are very good at that. Yeah, I think that's great too Harleena :) If you have a smartphone (Do you?), it's very easy as you can take it anywhere too. Hmm... Hoping to see your clicks Harleena :) I'm sure that would be fun and make you happy.
You know, as Instagram being used via mobile app, we might not think that we can download photos as we do on Picasa or Flickr. But it's possible and Instaport is one such easy to use service. When you are able to use Instagram with you hobby, you would find it helpful to download all your photos dear.
Thanks for coming by and contributing your thoughts on the topic Harleena :)
Cheers...
I'm really bad at using my phone with the apps it has - I leave all that for my kids :) I prefer the age old camera for taking pictures :) But I guess I better get updated with taking pictures from the smart phone too, and try out what you mentioned.
Thanks once again. :)
This is fabulous Mayura! I just installed Instagram on my phone and this may become very helpful for me. Thanks for sharing it and the tutorial!
HI Mayura
Great information shared!
Though I have made a transition from dumb phone to smart phone some time back but I'm still using smart phone more as a dumb phone.Haven't started using instagram yet but can now look forward to using it.
Since the time I have started reading your posts, I feel myself quite backward on some technologies.
Will surely try to catch up.
Sapna
Hello Mayura De Silva,
Practical and helpful post. I have so many pictures on my laptop and should move them into Instagram using your steps.
Looks like a good backup tool for instagram users. I am not much into the tool, though I have many pics which I would love to make backups of. I normally use an external HDD and also dropbox for saving them and sharing with friends and family.
This looks like a good add-on and would actually make me think of switching over now:-)
Hello Mayura thanks for the great post, I was using Instagram a few months ago and for the most part enjoyed it but after they changed their policies I them remove my account so I have not been using them.
But if I ever decide to signup again this is helpful to know..
You won't feel that way when you get to know better Harleena :) Kids will help you on that. If you couldn't use a computer, then I'd agree that using a smartphone with apps is not easy :D
Ah.. Old camera? So you can find the difference between both of 'em ;) Some friends say still they prefer camera over smartphone. Hmm... I'll let you decide that.
Happy photographying dear ;)
Cheers...
Hey Brenda,
You are a mobile friendly user like Lisa too ;) Woops... I thought you might be using it for a long time. Ha ha... I can see effects applied on T's photos.
Enjoy taking photos all the way and when you wanna download moments again from Instagram, there you go Brenda ;)
Thanks for coming by and sharing your thoughts dear :)
Cheers...
Hi Sapna,
Ha ha... Transition is very good :) I've made it last year too dear. Well, you can go few steps ahead and play safe with apps. No need to worry at all though :)
Instagram is very easy to use. Just take a shot via app and apply effects before uploading to account ;) That'd be a good start Sapna. The more you use, more you get to know :)
Well, sometimes we feel behind but we always have room to learn dear :) You can, always.
Thanks for coming over and contributing your thoughts Sapna :)
Cheers...
Hi Dan,
Well, it's other way around here mate :) Instagram to computer. If you have been using Instagram, now you can grab all your photos and save in your computer Dan.
Thanks for coming by and sharing your comment mate :)
Cheers...
Hi Praveen,
As all the photos being uploaded through the Instagram app, it was kinda mystery to download 'em again mate. Now Instagram has given access via public API and here we go ;)
Woah... Do you keep all the images in your external HDD? :) That's easy too and no need to worry about backing up. However if anyone haven't thought about such in first place, backup tool gonna save 'em in the end.
Hope you will give it a try and see how it will gonna help you mate ;)
Thanks for coming over and sharing how you keep backups of images Praveen :)
Cheers...
Hey Rob,
I know friend :) Many deleted their accounts with the policy change and I wish if they have made it firmly without freaking out users. You had many photos stored in your account? :)
Now it has gone and now if someone needs to download or if you gonna start with it again, you know what to do mate ;)
Thanks for coming by and sharing your experience with Instagram Rob :)
Cheers...
Hey Mayura,
Okay, I'm probably the only person on the planet that doesn't have a cell phone with all the bells and whistles. I know, I know, I'm so behind the times but I work at home and am here all the darn time so I certainly don't need to access the internet when I'm out and about.
Now this is about taking pictures, I know. Actually, I would love to have a phone that did that but since I don't I'm going to have to get me a new camera. But for all those Instagram lovers out there, they're going to enjoy this post.
~Adrienne
Hey Adrienne,
I'm with you there, though I have a smartphone, I'm sitting in front of PC all day dear ;) Actually it's rare we find a person without a smartphone especially in a country like US. If you ask me about here, smartphones are popular with younger generations only ;)
That's a very good choice as you don't feel like having a smartphone Adrienne :) Did you know Harleena is good at it too? Well, then we can see how you both master photography then ;)
For Instagrammers, they would like to have their photos backup in their computers :) I believe they will enjoy this one too dear.
Thanks for coming by and contributing your thoughts on this Adrienne :)
Cheers...
Hi Mayura,
I don't use Instagram yet and hardly ever take pictures with my smart phone, but will get around to it one of these days. Unlike Adrienne, I have all the bells and whistles on my phone but hardly use any of them - including the camera.
So - I will be keeping this very helpful post for future reference for that day when I finally start taking some pics!
Sue
PS I'll treat this as a test to see if I get your reply now I've sorted out my Disqus profile :)
Hi Mayura,
Great Information shared here Mayura.
I have to admit that I've never used Istagram but it looks like it's a good backup tool for photos. Do I have to switch to a smart phone to use this application? I just have a regular blackberry phone and I just use it as a mobile phone. lol. I think I am far behind.
Thanks Mayura for a great tutorial as always and I am sure it will be enjoyed by those who already use Istagram.
Be Blessed,
Neamat
Hi Sue,
I have it but I don't use it much too dear ;) I mean, it's rare I go out and mobile data connections are not much reliable here too. Anyway, I think you can start with taking snaps. May be you can use your own images on blog posts. How about that? ;)
Owkies Sue :) If you gonna start with Instagram and whenever needs to download your Instagram photos, you will find this tool helpful dear.
Well, now let's see whether you are getting the reply via email ;)
Testing... 1... 2... 3... GO.... Got it? ;)
Thanks for coming by and contributing your thoughts on Instagram and this service Sue :)
Cheers...
Hi Neamat,
lol :D We can anticipate Instagram for Blackberry but not yet though dear. Yet it's for Apple and Android devices, and yes, right now you need a smartphone with iOS or Android to take photos via Instagram.
When you take photos via Instagram app, they will store in your account (Online) and if you need 'em back, that's where this gonna help Neamat ;) I believe Instagram users will find it helpful as they can get all images back.
Thanks for coming over and sharing your thoughts on this tutorial dear :)
Cheers...
Hi Mayura,
OK, here you go another tool I didn't know. I'm wondering if it's a bit like photobucket. I've never heard of them before, I don't think, but I think it's worth it to take a look.
As always thank you for the tutorial how to use it too. Backing up pictures is a great idea :)
Mayura,
The tolls looks interesting and may useful. Indeed I haven’t used instagram, since I use Cloud based tools for my file storage.
I use Amazon cloud, Cubby and Dropbox to backup my files sometime with password protect. Otherwise, Most time I use External Hard Drive or Pen drive for easy and quick data access as and when needed.
The InstaPost options like, Tag and others photos link looks interesting. Let me have try and see how I can make use of it. Thanks for sharing the info.
lol :D Mostly I play everyday right after waking up or before sleep Sue ;)
It says start or end your day with a game rather than a usual one ;)
Cheers...
Hi Manickam,
When you take snaps via Instagram app, they store online in your account and yet it doesn't offer you a way to download them after all mate. Well, you can backup photos as you take 'em. That's a very good way and on need to work on downloading at all.
This service is very useful for Instagram users as it let users download their photos :) Yes, still you can try downloading photos with a specific tag there too. Try it out mate ;)
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views on this topic Manickam :)
Cheers...
Hi Mayura,
I have not been too active lately. Coming back to your site and finding something new and useful is as expected, Mayura!
Although I have decided not to give this tool a go, I can see that it is something very cool and useful. Your tutorial is so simple for others to follow.
Well done, Mayura!
Viola The Business Mum
Hi Mayuara
I hate to confess I have not used Instagram. I do have a smart phone and just use that camera on that. Now once again you have inspired me to take some action.
I love your very easy to follow tutorial here. Thank you.
I finally got around to getting myself onto Houtsuite. I followed your instructions and it made it very easy. Thanks for that.
Sue
Hi Viola,
I get it dear :) If you ask me, I'll tell you the same story about last weeks as I couldn't be everywhere in my blog list. Catching up ;)
Actually it doesn't gonna help me right now as I haven't been using Instagram too dear :) However I hope Instagram lovers would find it useful to download their photos after all.
Thanks for coming by and adding to the conversation Viola :) Appreciate your compliments too dear.
Cheers...
Hi Sue,
Ha ha... Though I have an account, I have no photo up there. So how about that Sue? ;) I hope you would like to give Instagram a try as it is very easy to use and you may find your hidden skills too.
Wow... That's awesome Sue :) I remember you saying you will come back and try it properly. I hope you would find it as an investment. Obviously saving time and easy to manage :)
It's all my pleasure dear :) Glad to hear it's being helpful. What else do we need as we are in the mission of helping others?
Thanks for coming by and adding to the conversation Sue :)
Cheers...
