It's not always about liking, 'cause there could be different reasons to get rid of it. Let me think... Lack of time to be on multiple social networks, is a one good reason. Delete or Deactivate?

If you can recall, once we have been talking about deleting a Pinterest account. Pinterest allowed you to delete your Pinterest account completely including pins and boards in it. There were no way you could get your account back and claiming your old username on a new Pinterest account was not possible either. There were some users deleted their accounts thinking they can claim old username again in the new account they gonna create, but that was not true and as they couldn't get old account back, they had to give up on that.

But Pinterest improved flexibility in this deletion process and that's what made me write this post. Now Pinterest has a deactivation option where Pinterest users can deactivate their account and best thing is they can reactivate their deactivated account without losing any pin or board in it. Still deactivation doesn't free up username or email address to be used with another account, but you have the option to get your old account back.

Let's take a look at how this deactivation process works if you wanna deactivate your account right now. Or else if you already deactivated your account, you can find out how to reactivate it again safely.

Steps:

1. Sign in to Pinterest.

2. Jump onto Pinterest Settings page.

3. Click on Deactivate Account button there.

4. Now click Deactivate Now button to confirm deactivation.

5. You will get a confirmation message if the deactivation was successful.
