How to Download Photos and Albums in Picasa Web Albums

Have you been fond of using Picasa? Picasa is a software you can use to edit and manage your photos. It's not an advanced image editor like Photoshop but it has image editing capabilities within its limitations. I think you may have heard of it and I just mentioned about it to help you familiar with this topic. Though Picasa is a software, Picasa Web Albums is a photo sharing website which also integrates with Picasa. Picasa Web Albums let you store and share images or videos online, and it acts as an online storage to host your images or videos. Have you been using Picasa Web Albums? Did you just said "NO"?

If You're a Google User...

Well, let me ask it in this way. Do you have a Google account? You most probably say "Yes" now. Then you entitles for a Picasa Web Album with 1 GB free storage. If you are already using Google+ or Blogger services, you already consuming your Picasa online storage too. Here's why. Did you know that your profile pictures, photos and videos uploaded to Google+ are stored in Picasa Web Albums? Also if you are using Blogger blogging service, all your header and post images you upload are stored in there too. Now let me ask it again ~ Have you been using Picasa Web Albums?

What If You Wanna Download or Reuse?

If you use above mentioned Google products, now you know where your photos/images and videos are. May be you need to have them in your computer again if you lost them in your computer or any other reason. The reason I'm writing about this topic is mostly focusing on Blogger users and Google+ users can relate too. Blogger users mostly don't know where their post images get uploaded to and getting them back matters in specific scenarios. For example, If you are moving to another blogging platform from Blogger, sometimes you may find some images are missing from your posts. Simply you will freak out if you don't have a backup of images or don't know how to get them back. How about mistakenly deleting an image or post? Now it makes sense, right?

Well, if you know where all your images preserved, you can simply download and reuse wherever you need to use. If you haven't been to Picasa Web Albums yet, I encourage you to visit there at least once and see what you can find. May be some old images or photos? I don't know. And if you are a one who seeking for getting all images or some images, this gonna help you. Especially for Blogger users. You can start backing up your post images to use in case. For Blogger users, all your images will be held in one album labeled with your blog title. If you are a heavy Google+ user and upload images frequently on Google+, then this might gonna helpful to you as well. Let's get to know how you can download images from your Picasa Web Albums.

I use picasa web albums. It's work pretty good cause whatever pics I take on my cellphone, I have auto uploaded via my google+ app. The only thing I don't like about it is if you go to edit in Creative pic, it doesn't give you too many options (i.e. a drawing tool for arrows and such). Other than that, it's a pretty good resource. Thanks for sharing Mayura!

Hi Brenda,

You do? Ah Google+... Cool :) I've disabled Google+ instant upload feature on mine though. So I think you have much more photos uploaded there :)

Creative Kit is enriched with effects but edits are pretty basic. I think they are just focused on transforming photos. There are text and elements like speech bubbles, but drawing tools would make it much perfect to use as it's the default editor for Picasa Web Albums.

Thanks for coming by and adding value here with your thoughts and ideas as you use it dear :)

I use to use Picasa a long time ago but I didn't put a lot of photos on the site. Not quite sure why now, it was a long time ago.

You've made it easy for us Mayura to go through the process and I would definitely need a refresher course.

Thanks for sharing these easy instructions.

Hi Adrienne,

Yeah dear, Picasa is not a trending service :) Actually it's about Blogger and Google+ using this service as the online storage to host images we upload there.

Well, I know you are not a Blogger user anymore but if you upload photos on Google+, now you know where to find and download all at once in case if you need to.

Downloading photos is easy there, but albums need some help in that process :)

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts dear :) Compliments accepted!

I was using Picasa web albums a few years ago. After I got used to DropBox, i find it more easy to upload and share with my family and friends.

Yes, picasa was a wonderful tool, and one of the first tools to come up with such easy to share and easy to upload/download features. Maybe i need to start back using the tool now that it might be easier to upload from smartphones even.

Thanks for a detailed explanation of the tool and steps. (as usual)

Hi Praveen,

Cloud storage is definitely the best option for more storage space as Picasa Web Albums allows only 1 GB for free mate :)

Actually I wanted to talk about Picasa here as Blogger and Google+ store your uploaded images there. You never know when you wanna get 'em and reuse if you don't have a backup, right? :) It's better to know actual source of our images.

Thanks for coming by and sharing your thoughts and experience with Picasa mate :)
