How to Download Photos and Albums in Picasa Web Albums




Have you been fond of using Picasa? Picasa is a software you can use to edit and manage your photos. It's not an advanced image editor like Photoshop but it has image editing capabilities within its limitations. I think you may have heard of it and I just mentioned about it to help you familiar with this topic. Though Picasa is a software, Picasa Web Albums is a photo sharing website which also integrates with Picasa. Picasa Web Albums let you store and share images or videos online, and it acts as an online storage to host your images or videos. Have you been using Picasa Web Albums? Did you just said "NO"?


If You're a Google User...


Well, let me ask it in this way. Do you have a Google account? You most probably say "Yes" now. Then you entitles for a Picasa Web Album with 1 GB free storage. If you are already using Google+ or Blogger services, you already consuming your Picasa online storage too. Here's why. Did you know that your profile pictures, photos and videos uploaded to Google+ are stored in Picasa Web Albums? Also if you are using Blogger blogging service, all your header and post images you upload are stored in there too. Now let me ask it again ~ Have you been using Picasa Web Albums?


What If You Wanna Download or Reuse?


If you use above mentioned Google products, now you know where your photos/images and videos are. May be you need to have them in your computer again if you lost them in your computer or any other reason. The reason I'm writing about this topic is mostly focusing on Blogger users and Google+ users can relate too. Blogger users mostly don't know where their post images get uploaded to and getting them back matters in specific scenarios. For example, If you are moving to another blogging platform from Blogger, sometimes you may find some images are missing from your posts. Simply you will freak out if you don't have a backup of images or don't know how to get them back. How about mistakenly deleting an image or post? Now it makes sense, right?

Well, if you know where all your images preserved, you can simply download and reuse wherever you need to use. If you haven't been to Picasa Web Albums yet, I encourage you to visit there at least once and see what you can find. May be some old images or photos? I don't know. And if you are a one who seeking for getting all images or some images, this gonna help you. Especially for Blogger users. You can start backing up your post images to use in case. For Blogger users, all your images will be held in one album labeled with your blog title. If you are a heavy Google+ user and upload images frequently on Google+, then this might gonna helpful to you as well. Let's get to know how you can download images from your Picasa Web Albums.


Steps:

1. Navigate to Picasa Web Albums Website.

2. Now downloading a photo is pretty simple. But when it comes to downloading a whole album, there is a prerequisite. For your ease, let me explain both separately.

Download a Photo or Image

i. Navigate to the album where your specific photo is in.

ii. Now click on the exact image you need to download.

iii. Click on Actions menu on top and then Download photo menu item.


iv. Now the photo will download immediately.


Download an Album

i. First off, Navigate to Picasa website and, download and install Picasa on your computer.

ii. Now click on the album you need to download at Picasa Web Albums.

iii. Click on Actions menu on the top and Download to Picasa menu item.


Note: If you get a prompt mentioning External Protocol Request, click Launch Application button to launch Picasa to download album.

iv. Now Picasa will be launched and ask to confirm the download action. Click Download button now.


v. Your album start downloading and you will see the progress of download too.
